In 2012, wine exports reached a volume of more than 100 Mhl. Recent data shows a stabilisation in trade with a moderate recovery in consumption.
World wine production in 2012 is estimated at 250.9 Mhl, which is a very low level, particularly for the European Union, due to the reduction in vineyards and the poor weather conditions.
The VIII Convention of Polish Winemakers will be held in Warsaw at the National Stadium on 28 – 30 June 2013. The event is organised by the Fondation Polish Institute of Vine and Winicjatywa.
The Convention of Polish Winemakers is on the one hand a forum to exchange experiences and meeting place for Polish winemakers, on the other an occasion for the inventory of Polish vineyards. At the annual convention gather both amateur winemakers, producing for their family and friends, middle-sized growers who produce wine successfully absorbed by the local market and tourists, but also a large plantation owners who want their offer to compete on international markets.
This year, the organisers have prepared a rich program. In addition to the well-known from previous years tasting panel thematic seminars will be conducted by experts, tasting open to the public combined with the sell of wine.
The Convention will be held at the National Stadium, avenue Prince Jozef Poniatowski first It will be media coverage, regional, national and industry.
We are glad to inform you that the printed version of the Visegrad Wine Route brochure will be available during the wine festival "V Dni Węgrzyna & CK Wino" on May16th-20th 2013 (www.dniwegrzyna.pl). You can find the brochure at the stands of the Slovak and Hungarian Tourist Board.

On May 12th-17th 2013 the study tour along the Visegrad Wine Route took place. The study tour was financed by the International Visegrad Fund and gave the opportunity to the representatives of the partner organisation and participants from the tourism sector to gain information about the tourist potential of the wineries involved in the Visegrad Wine Route network and about their offer. The 36th World Congress of Vine and Wine and the 11th General Assembly of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) will take place from 2nd to 7th June 2013, in Bucharest, Romania upon the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment of Romania. Romania will welcome the greatest specialists in the vitivinicultural sector, who will have wide-ranging discussions throughout the Congress, on the general theme: “Vine and wine between tradition and modernity”.
